What’s in my kit
It’s not exhaustive, but these are some of the things I keep in my kit. (Obvious items not listed here: all the kinds of tape, sharpies, scissors, zip ties, baggies, trash bags, Purell wipes, latex gloves, bottle opener, etc.)
My kit - I've had to go bigger over the years. This is my current kit. I keep the most frequent essentials in the top component, and keep that in my car. I bring the rest of the pieces for certain events.
Flashlight - this is a tiny magnetic flashlight
Label maker - use an app on your phone to print, so possibilities are almost endless.
Power strip - this one has multiple outlets and USB ports, plus a long cord
Tablecloth holders - these have come in handy so often at outdoor events
Snippers - my buddy Jonny scolded me for using a box cutter to cut zip ties, so I switched to these. Next time I buy snippers, though, I'll get one with a case. Don't forget to take out of your bag before going through TSA!
Tide wipes - haven't tested yet if these are better than the pen. Tell me what you think!
100 yard tape measure - when you gotta put temporary hash marks on an NFL field
Portable fan- rechargeable
Labels - I use these to label all my cords, bungees, etc.
AA & AAA batteries - pro tip, any time I order something on Amazon and am close to the minimum to get same day shipping, I add some of these to my order. You always need batteries.
Wristbands - band events always run out of wristbands
Adapters - for all common needs (HDMI, lightning, USB C, etc.)
Radios - when I found out how inexpensive they are, I bought my own. Nice to have. (I also bought myself a couple of personal earpieces, for using on my radios, and radios provided by events)
Staple gun - for repairing band props
Chalk liner - if you have to tape off large areas, this is nice
